Snapped… OKC Thunder

courtvision tag 2Yes, After the Oklahoma City Thunder have seem  to be really making a run for the post season, the Boston Celtics were successful in destroying OKC’s 7 game winning streak.  The Thunder played well Sunday night, however they just didn’t have enough to compete with the young Celtic team.

Paul George would lead all scores with 37 points, and at times seemed to be unstoppable.  The Celtics had no match for him other than collectively stop everyone else.  Kyrie Irving also had a very impactful night.  He would finish with 30 points of his own leading the Celtics in scoring and in assists as he finished with 11.tatum_george

The game came down to a crucial possession.  With 7 seconds left in regulation Russell Westbrook would make an out of control, move which resulted in him completely loosing the ball and adding another notch to his crunch time turnovers.  Boston would leave with the win, and OKC’s 7 game win streak is over.

This is great for Boston fans because as of lately Kyrie and others have been in trade rumors.  Many teams in the league are making a hard push for Anthony Davis and Boston is no exception.  A.D. has not mentioned Boston as a destination he would like to go to but right now A.D. doesn’t get to make this decision.  The Boston Celtics are in a position that as long as they keep winning the Celtics front office doesn’t have an incentive of changing things up or getting rid of anyone.G3YDBV6OA5FCVI7WA535GCVPYI

The Thunder now sit at the 3rd spot in the west behind Golden State and Denver and are almost insured a playoff spot.

My Thoughts: The real question everyone has on their mind involves Russell Westbrook.  We have seen this situation before with another NBA superstar and Russell Westbrook.  Paul George comes out with a 37 point performances however in crunch time with the game on the line, the ball like always is in the hands of Russel Westbrook.  This is another game chalked up to his undying desire to be the decision maker all the time.  Other players on OKC were also hitting and carrying momentum and Westbrook decided to completely ignore them and take matters into his own hands.  If this behavior continues I can easily see Paul George taking a similar route of Kevin Durant. 208293a8-87cb-46ca-ae9e-ce07e4ca13bf-large16x9_AP19034728468430 Its only so long superstar players are going to put up with this kind of 2nd tear role.  It doesn’t seem that Russel Westbook will be taking a backseat to anyone anytime soon.  With Westbrooks play  style it almost seems that he is better off being the only All- Star on his team.  Paul George is having an MVP caliber season and everyone in the league knows it.  The sad part is he may not even get an All-Star spot competing with the likes of Klay Thompson and James Harden.
